Who we are

Founded in 2014, Loving Our Cities is a 501c3 community development corporation (CDC) headquartered in Sewell, New Jersey, that operates as the community engagement arm of The Perfecting Church with a mission to inspire, equip, and mobilize people and partners to enhance the quality of life where we live, work, serve and worship. Through civic engagement, community programming, workforce development, and soon, housing, Loving Our Cities seeks to foster societal change locally throughout Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester, and Salem counties in South Jersey, and abroad in the West Bank, by addressing systemic barriers compromising the quality of life within historically marginalized communities struggling to equitably access nutritious food, healthcare, housing, education, and economic opportunities. distressed communities. Innovative programs and advocacy are critical to this effort, dismantling institutional and systemic impediments contributing to racial, ethnic, and income disparities in the neighborhoods we serve. In response, LOC offers a range of referral services as well as a variety of direct programs including the operation of its 9,000 square-foot warehouse serving as a food HUB and social enterprise; five food pantries in Camden and Gloucester Counties; KidFLIX and The Perfect Thanksgiving, serving meals to families at risk of hunger or dining alone in the summer or the holidays; marriage, family and financial counseling; support groups for those recovering from trauma or struggling with mental illness; mentoring and leadership development through its after-school program, A Few Good Men; and job readiness training through Millennial Labs, a workforce development initiative.

Loving Our Cities (LOC) seeks a dynamic, dedicated individual as Managing Director (MD). Reporting to and working closely as a partner with the Executive
Director (ED), the MD will be a seasoned leader and coach, with the ability to operate on strategic, managerial, and hands-on levels, navigating the organization across programmatic and administrative functions and success.

What We Need

General Operations. Provide oversight of key operational areas to include
Human Resources, Accounting, Grant Procurement, Data Analytics, Facilities
and Communications.

 

Programs & Services.Provide visionary and effective leadership to LOC
programs and services, developing and managing a high-performance staff,
consultants and volunteer team to ensure outcomes are met and measured.

 

Strategic Planning. Assist the Executive Director in creating a clear and
inspirational vision for the organization’s growth and sustainability while
managing key projects and special initiatives that relate to organizational
growth

External Relations. Serve as secondary spokesperson for LOC and represent
the organization at special events that involve our stakeholders, partners, and
funders

The Ideal Candidate:

• Accountable, collaborative, and adaptable, willing to teach as well as
learn.

• Approachable, flexible, project and people manager, capable of multitasking and problem-solving within a multi-faceted and fast-moving
environment.

• Detail-oriented and resourceful, capable of setting priorities and
providing long-term, inspirational, and sustainable vision, while
simultaneously creating and implementing pragmatic solutions to
manage daily operations.

• Approachable and competent communicator, holding excellent written,
verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to translate data into clear
and simple messages for a variety of stakeholders

Requirements:

• Senior management experience in a dynamic, responsive environment
preferably within the nonprofit sector.

• Skilled supervision of cross-functional teams to develop and implement
systems and processes to increase effectiveness and efficiency.

• Experience in infrastructure development with early-stage organizations
and managing sizeable infrastructure projects.

• Bachelor’s or advanced degree and/or related experience leading and
growing a nonprofit social enterprise.
This role is on a hybrid work schedule.

What we need:

Administration of daily warehouse management functions as well as the
operational strategies required to ensure the timely delivery and pick-ups of
products in the most cost-effective manner. Ensuring adherence to policies,
procedures and transportation regulations, the successful candidate will
support operations staff and volunteer team leadership, working with
leadership to innovate and implement plans to maximize use of facilities and
distribution plans and strategies.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to

Observes all safety practices and evaluates workplace environments, to
ensure compliance with work and food safety standards and regulations.

▪ Coordinates transportation schedule, responsible for all pick-ups and
deliveries.

▪ Checks to ensure daily deliveries and pick-up schedules.

▪ Arranges for pick-ups and pick-up appointments, as necessary.

▪ Maintains and processes current vehicle list, ensuring accurate records
and maintenance and communicating with leadership as needed.

▪ Creates and implements appropriate systems for proper warehouse
storage and protection of product. Collaborates with staff on what
donated products are to be directed to the proper storage and picking
areas.

▪ Move in-bound and out-bound product to appropriate staging or storage
areas as directed, in accordance with safety procedures.

▪ Pick orders accurately and timely by locating and transporting all orders
to the staging or loading areas for pick up.

▪ Check and verify all orders against order inventory sheet for accuracy,
reporting any order discrepancies to the supervisor.

▪ Assist in the off-loading of inbound and outbound product and supplies,
moving to the appropriate staging and storage areas.

▪ Perform daily consolidation of product when required to assure storage
space and overall area organization.

▪ Weekly tracking of inventory and monthly reconciliation, consolidation
and reporting to relevant bodies.
